No machine?

Why do people in 2005 still not have answering machines or voice mail? (OK Skye, I have forgiven you since you have email and I can drop you a quick line if necessary but it really IS time for a machine!)

My brain is running 90 miles-a-minute and when I get/make the time to call someone to tell the something, I'd like to not have to remember to call them again later. A machine is actually preferable to a live person many times because I'd rather just relay the information and avoid the casual chit-chat that is necessary with most people.

Ugh. I'm off to try calling a non-machine person AGAIN.
